Happy Monday! How was your weekend? This was one of the best weekends I’ve had in a while. Good weekends make starting the week so much better. Since Students Run Philly Style ended in November, I haven’t been disciplined with my weekend workouts. But Friday night, I went to bed early so I could get up on Saturday morning and go to my first barre class! For those of you who don’t know about barre, it’s a class that uses ballet basics and a variety of exercises to strengthen and tone. It was by far one of the hardest classes I’ve ever taken, but I loved it! The class was a great workout and I really felt like I was toning my muscles. I expected to be sore the next day (which is what everyone told me), but I wasn’t at all. Jon and I had went for an easy five mile run on Saturday afternoon and I’m 99% sure that running prevented my muscles from getting sore. Just another reason to love running! ;)

Speaking of Jon, his birthday was on Saturday hence the five mile birthday run. We had a recent epiphany about running together. When we were in college, we lived a couple blocks from each other and ran together several times per week. When I moved to California, neither of us had a running partner and we weren’t motivated to run, weren’t consistent, and definitely lost some of our speed and endurance. Now, three years later, we live less than a mile away from each other. We realized that we are super fortunate to be living this close together and that we need to start running together more often. So that’s exactly what we’re doing. Sometimes, it just takes that realization to get back into good habits. If you’re struggling to keep your New Year’s resolutions about working out, ask a friend to workout with you. They might need the motivation just as much as you do.

Whenever I’m missing my parents’ puppies, I visit Jon’s animals for some TLC. His dogs live to sit on people’s laps and are adorable.
We went out to a couple of bars for Jon’s birthday on Saturday night. All the bars had lines longer than I’ve ever seen. We guessed that it was the warm weather bringing all of us Philadelphians out onto the streets. We ended up going to a cute little bar in Center City called Stir and had such a great time that we forgot to take any pictures.

Yesterday was a beautiful day in Philly. Jon, his fiancé, and I got brunch at Devil’s Den as a post birthday treat. The food there is delicious and reasonably priced so if you’re looking for a new brunch place, try this place out!
(Not the best pre-juice cleanse meal, but that's okay. :)
I decided to walk home since it was so nice outside. I try not to buy tea much anymore since I’m on a budget, but yesterday was one of those “grab a hot drink and walk around outside” kind of days.

Finally, I am starting my juice cleanse today. I decided to make my own “juices” AKA smoothies to try it out rather than purchasing the pre-made juices right away. If today goes well, I’ll consider buying the actual cleanse from Sip-n-Glo.
My mom and sister both sent pictures of rainbows yesterday from the farm. There’s something so magical about rainbows, especially when they look like this!
