Happy Monday, everyone! Mondays are a great time for new beginnings - setting new habits, making goals for the week, kickstarting your workout routine, changing the world. Whatever it is that you want to do, today is the day to start!
Why am I so chipper? I skipped out on the Super Bowl parties yesterday (don’t worry, I still watched Bey slay the halftime show) and spent my ENTIRE Sunday researching new trends in the activewear market. There are exciting things in the works and new apparel will be gracing Run Life Co.’s store in Fall 2016. In the meantime, get your spring tops from our Tank Collection. Those spring races will be here before you know it!
(I even ran in SHORTS one day this week...but with compression socks ;)
Another contributor to my peppiness - I’ve been running every single day for the RUN215 and Philadelphia Runner February challenge. Their challenge consists of running at least one mile every day in February. While most runners usually take a rest days for recovery, those days have turned into easy 1-2 mile runs for me. In all honesty, it’s been tough fitting a run in one or two days so far, but as of yesterday, I built my schedule around running rather than vice versa and I was really looking forward to my run. Another benefit is that Jon and I have been running together more lately. We ran twice together in one week this past week, which probably hasn’t happened since college.
(Our classy and graceful pose for the self-timer)
(Added bonus is that I get to see Jon’s dogs when we start from his house)
(More often than not, we stop at Doggy Style to look at the dogs up for adoption…this cutie is only six months old and she just wants to snuggle! I was scarily close to adopting her.)
All this running has made me think about my races coming up. Students Run Philly Style practices will be starting soon, which is exciting (I miss those kids like crazy), but that also means less time to fit in long runs. I’ll be doing the Philly LOVE Run Half Marathon in April and have some big goals for that time-wise. I really want to do another marathon soon, too, which will probably take place shortly after the LOVE Run. Any June marathon suggestions, east coasters?
On Monday, I spoke at Temple to two student organizations in the Fox School of Business about why and how Run Life Co. was started. I’ve always loved public speaking and sharing my story so it was fun getting to talk to students about starting a business, especially because I used to be one of those Fox business students listening to entrepreneurs talk about their businesses. I definitely hope to do more of this in the future.
(Kate set up the event and also is the person who first introduced me to Students Run Philly Style. I can’t thank her enough for that!)
Little food update...I made one of my favorite meals this week: spaghetti squash with veggies!
Even though I did pretty well this week, I saw this online and had to post it on Instagram...
Anyone else feel this struggle?
Last thing…if you’re looking for a great cardio AND strengthening exercise, head on over to the Run Life Co. Instagram and check out the video from yesterday. I probably did 100 reps trying to get the video set up correctly, but do as many as you can! They’re tough!
Hope you have a wonderful Monday and remember to start those good habits TODAY!
P.S. Did I mention that I signed up for kickboxing classes this week?? New Monday, new beginnings!
